Well, we have come to the end of our trip around the Zodiac wheel, and have landed in the Pisces zodiac sign, the last sign.

In Western astrology, Pisces is often seen as the culmination of the zodiac, representing the synthesis of the qualities and traits of the preceding eleven signs. For some, Pisces is considered the most spiritually evolved sign, symbolizing unity and transcendence.

For me, Pisces is my rising sign, and I feel like my journey has just begun, and is still some time from reaching its end.

Do you know your Pisces nature?

Pisces Myth and Constellation

1. Pisces Mythology

It will come as no surprise, that the mythology around Pisces has many different angles and stories. At the heart of it though, you will find a story of two characters changing form, or someone being assisted by a fish named Pisces. 🐟

The word “Pisces” is the Latin plural for “fish.” It is one of the constellations first cataloged by the Greek astronomer and astrologer Ptolemy in the second century.

In Greek mythology, Pisces is associated with the story of Aphrodite and her son Eros transforming into fish to escape the monster Typhon. They tied themselves together with a cord to avoid getting separated. In another tale, Aphrodite is said to have been born from an egg that was rolled onto land by fish. As a gesture of gratitude, Aphrodite placed the fish in the night sky.

The Pisces constellation is located in the Northern Hemisphere, lying between Aquarius to the west and Aries to the east, and just south of Pegasus. It is most visible in the night sky during early autumn.

Pisces Symbols and facts

Pisces season, according to Western astrology, begins when the Sun transits this sign from about February 18 to March 20. In the Northern Hemisphere, this period marks the transition from winter to spring.

Like all four mutable signs, Pisces represents a time of change in the seasons. Each mutable sign corresponds to the transitional phase between seasons, embodying the qualities of adaptability and flexibility that are characteristic of these periods of change.

As you'll soon discover, transition and change are core themes in the Pisces experience. This is truly the last chapter of the zodiac before we restart the cycle with the sign of Aries.

2. The Twelfth Sign

As the twelfth and final sign of the zodiac, Pisces follows Aquarius and concludes our astrological journey, which began with the courageous fire sign Aries and ends in the mutable waters of Pisces. This journey through the zodiac wheel signifies a cycle of growth and evolution, with each sign contributing unique qualities to our overall experience.

In this context, we also track Jupiter's 12-year cycle around the zodiac, as each year brings new opportunities and growth aligned with the energies of the sign Jupiter is transiting. This cyclical pattern mirrors the broader journey of personal development represented by the zodiac, culminating in the spiritual and intuitive insights of Pisces.

3. Two Fish Swimming In Opposite Directions

The symbol for Pisces (♓) represents two fish swimming in opposite directions, signifying the duality and fluidity of this sign. This duality reflects Pisces' ability to navigate between reality and dreams, conscious and unconscious, making them highly adaptable and deeply intuitive.

4. A Water Element Sign

Pisces is a Water sign, which connects it to emotions, intuition, and creativity. This connection allows Pisceans to be deeply empathetic, often feeling the emotions of others as their own.

This intuitive nature enables Pisces to sense and understand things beyond the surface, while its creativity often finds expression in the arts.

5. A Mutable Sign Too

As a mutable sign, Pisces is highly receptive to new ideas and experiences, making this sign versatile and resourceful. Pisces can easily adjust to different situations and environments, often going with the flow rather than resisting change.

This mutable quality also enhances the Pisces' ability to empathize with others, as it can shift perspectives and understand diverse viewpoints.

6. Ruled by Jupiter

Pisces is traditionally ruled by Jupiter and, in modern astrology, by Neptune. Jupiter brings expansion, wisdom, and a sense of higher purpose, encouraging Pisceans to seek growth and understanding.

Neptune, on the other hand, adds a dreamy, mystical quality, imbuing Pisces with a rich imagination, spiritual depth, and a connection to the unseen realms.

This combination of influences makes Pisces both visionary and compassionate, with a profound ability to perceive and transcend the ordinary.

7. Medical Astrology

In medical astrology, Pisces rules the feet, toes, and lymphatic system. If you’ve been following along, you may have noticed that we have traveled from the top of our heads to our feet through the zodiac signs. Aries starts at the head, Taurus covers the neck and throat, and so on down the body, concluding with Pisces at the feet.

This journey through the zodiac highlights the holistic connection between astrology and the human body, with each sign corresponding to different anatomical regions and their associated functions.

8. Pisces Colors And Birthstone

The colors associated with Pisces are sea green, lavender, and other soft, oceanic hues that reflect the sign's serene and mystical nature. Personally, these are some of my favorite colors, especially as they are represented in the world of crystals and stones.

For crystal healing practices, you can stick to the traditional Pisces birthstone of aquamarine or explore other stones in the mentioned colors. These include celestine, rose quartz, lepidolite, kunzite, and more, each offering unique energies that resonate with Pisces.

9. Pisces in History

The Age of Pisces is said to have started around the time of the birth of Christ and continues until today, marking an era associated with religion, compassion, and sacrifice. There is much discussion among astrologers about how long we will remain in this age and whether we have already begun our transition to the Age of Aquarius.

Only future generations will know what this new era represents and when the change truly began.

Learning about famous people can help us understand how a zodiac sign may manifest, adding another layer to our astrological learning path.

Or perhaps you'll find your Piscean bestie painting water scenes, or singing about being a Piscean, like Erykah Badu. 🎶My favorite activity for strong water-natured individuals is sound healing therapy or another type of vibrational medicine.

Pisces Zodiac Sign Traits
