What are Psychic Abilities?
From ancient civilizations to modern-day society, the concept of psychic abilities has been a source of fascination and mystery. Stories of individuals with the ability to perceive events beyond the scope of ordinary perception have captured the attention of people across cultures and time periods.
One of the most recognized names in history is the one and only Nostradamus (astrologer, physician, apothecarist, etc.), whose visions have remained controversial, and weirdly accurate at times. Then there's Jeane Dixon, an astrologer, who supposedly predicted the assassination of President Kennedy, and one of my faves, the famous psychic, Edgar Cayce (1877-1945).
Edgar Cayce was very prolific in his lifetime, doing over 14,000 readings covering a wide range of topics such as health and well being, the economy, Dead Sea Scrolls, Atlantis, and more. Among those predictions attributed to him are foretelling the stock market crash of 1929. 🙀
More importantly though, at least for me, Cayce was talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls and the people who created them, the Essenes, way before they were discovered. That's right the Dead Sea Scrolls weren’t discovered until 1947, two years after Cayce’s death.

Again, what are psychic abilities?
According to astrologer Marie DeSimone, a psychic ability is one where you are sensitive to “forces beyond the physical world”. Hhhmm… the collective consciousness? other realms? Yea, I dig it. I agree.
Psychic abilities is the capacity to perceive, interact with, or manipulate aspects of reality that are beyond the sensory capabilities and scientific understanding of the time.
This sensitivity and capacity allows for tapping into other realms that can help facilitate this type of “knowing”, “touching” and “changing”.
I truly believe that every one of us, including you, possesses some level of sensitivity to the world around us. What's more, psychic abilities may even be developed, as demonstrated by the CIA's research into remote viewing.
Now, let's go over some types of psychic abilities:
1. Intuition: The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It's a “gut feeling” or “knowing” that can guide decisions and provide insight.
2. Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing): The ability to gain information about an object, person, location, or physical event through extrasensory perception. It can manifest as visions, images, or symbols in the mind's eye.
3. Clairaudience (Clear Hearing): The ability to receive intuitive messages via hearing. This can include hearing words, sounds, or music that are not audible to the normal ear, often perceived internally.
4. Clairsentience (Clear Feeling): The ability to psychically feel or sense information. It's often experienced as physical sensations or deep emotional feelings.
5. Claircognizance (Clear Knowing): The ability to know something without knowing how or why you know it. This sudden download of information can come without any logical basis.
6. Clairalience (Clear Smelling): Less common, this is the ability to smell a fragrance or odor coming from the spiritual or ethereal realm.
7. Clairgustance (Clear Tasting): The ability to taste a substance without putting anything in the mouth. It's a form of extrasensory perception where individuals perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms.
And there's also telepathy, precognition, psychokinesis, empathy, medium ship, psychometry, astral travel and many other talents that we have yet to define or experience.

Before your eyes glaze over, let me first say, that no list will be the ultimate indicators list for psychic abilities in astrology chart readings. But from my research, and what I have found, the list below is a great start to understanding what psychic ability influences can be found in your chart.
Let's look at Edgar Cayce's chart as an example, a well documented healer and prolific seer. I've noted below two black circles showing some psychic indicators, with big arrows pointing to a label saying Psychic Indicators. Just so you don't miss it 😉
What do we see in those circles and in the chart? Let's capture the basics:
- Leo Rising! which makes the Sun his chart ruler
- His Sun sign is in Pisces, along with 3 other planets and the North Node
- 4 Planets in Pisces: Sun, Saturn, Mercury and Venus, all in the 8th House (note: I read for whole sign houses)
- His Moon is in Taurus, along with Neptune and Pluto, all conjunct
- Uranus is conjunct his Ascendant, square Pluto
- And then the aspects are interesting too… Moon square Uranus, Pluto Square Uranus, plus the many others he has in his birth chart
Now, let's compare Edgar Cayce's birth chart placements to our list of indicators for psychic abilities in astrology chart readings, and see what we find for him.
Get out a pen and your chart in hand and see how you do:
1. Natal Neptune's Placement and Aspects
Neptune, the planet that governs your intuition, dreams, and connection to the universal consciousness, plays a pivotal role in revealing your natural psychic abilities. Its influence in your chart can deepen your sensitivity and empathy towards others, connecting you powerfully to the unseen realms. If Neptune forms significant aspects with other planets, such as a trine with Mercury or a square to Mars, this can further refine or challenge your intuitive and psychic experiences.
If the planet Neptune holds a prominent place in your chart, you might find yourself irresistibly drawn to artistic and creative endeavors, as well as spiritual and mystical practices.
However, it's crucial for you, especially if you're rich in Neptune energy, to maintain clear boundaries and practice discernment to avoid absorbing the energies and emotions of those around you. Techniques such as visualization of a protective shield or grounding exercises can be beneficial in maintaining these boundaries.

2. Natal Moon Sign and Aspects
The Moon plays an important role in your birth chart, as it governs your emotions and the subconscious. It's the gateway to your intuitive and psychic faculties. Moon signs in Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces are considered to be particularly strong, as these signs are of the water element. Your Moon sign can provide insight into your deepest needs and emotional patterns, and understanding it can help you navigate your inner world with more clarity and compassion.

Edgar wins again! Moon conjunct Neptune, Moon square Uranus. You should read the stories that people have shared about his healings and insights. It's wild! Look it up!
3. Natal Uranus Aspects and Placement
Uranus represents intuition, innovation, and sudden insights that seem to come out of nowhere. It's associated with higher consciousness, technological advancements, and unconventional wisdom. Uranus's placement and its aspects to other planets in your chart can indicate your potential for intuitive insights that are received in flashes or through unconventional means, distinguishing it from the more emotional and fluid intuition represented by Neptune and the water signs.
- How to Identify in Your Chart: Look for Uranus in significant aspects (conjunction, trine, sextile, opposition, square) with personal planets such as the Moon, Mercury, or the Sun. Uranus strongly placed in the 11th house or aspecting the Ascendant or Midheaven can also be an indicator.
- Manifestation of Psychic Abilities: People with strong Uranian energy may experience sudden “downloads” of information, have innovative solutions to problems that come out of the blue, or possess an ability to understand future trends. They might be drawn to astrology, technology, or other systems that help decipher patterns and make predictions.
Again, Cayce wins this indicator, with his extra strong Uranian energy signature. His Ascendant is at 24 degrees Leo conjunct Uranus at 21 degrees Leo. He also had Moon square Uranus. Cayce was an astrologer, and had an ability to understand future trends.

4. Water Signs' Dominance (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Water signs are the emotional and intuitive powerhouses of the zodiac. Your are deeply connected to your feelings and an often highly empathetic individual. Water signs are known for their strong intuition and ability to sense the emotions of others. You are also highly imaginative and creative, often finding inspiration in your rich inner worlds.
- How to Identify in Your Chart: A dominance of planets in water signs indicates a predisposition towards psychic sensitivity. This could be the personal planets and outer planets.
- Manifestation of Psychic Abilities: Emotional depth, empathic abilities, and intuitive insights.
I talked about 4 planets and the North Node in Pisces in Edgar Cayce's birth chart. This is called a stellium, which means having more than 3 planets/points in one sign. This indicates a strong presence of Pisces energy, which is known for being deeply empathetic, intuitive, and artistic. Edgar Cayce strongly embodied the traits of Pisces and shared many insights with us.
5. 12th House Planets
The 12th house is associated with the subconscious mind, spirituality, and hidden realms. The 12th house is also connected to the collective unconscious, dreams, and the dissolution of ego. It represents the parts of ourselves that are hidden or repressed, as well as our karmic patterns and spiritual growth.
This house is often associated with solitude, retreat, and introspection, and it can reveal your deepest fears and desires. In astrology, the 12th house is a place of both challenge and transformation, where you confront your inner demons and seek spiritual enlightenment.
- How to Identify in Your Chart: Planets located in the 12th house, for example Jupiter in the 12th house, especially personal planets, can indicate psychic potential.
- Manifestation of Psychic Abilities: Access to the unconscious mind, spiritual insights, and hidden psychic gifts.
While Cayce's chart doesn't have any significant planets in the 12th house (again, I read in whole sign, not Placidus), he does have Cancer as his 12th house. Some people equate the signs with houses, aries=1st house for example. And then label the 4th, 8th and 12th houses as water houses, because of their association with the 3 water signs in order of the zodiac signs: Cancer (4th), Scorpio (8th), and Pisces (12th).
I don't but I do like to note that for others. Through this lens, Cayce has the 4th, 8th and 12th Houses in water signs: Scorpio, Pisces and Cancer.
You can't deny this man's spirituality and connection with the hidden realms.
6. Pluto's Influence
Pluto governs transformation, the subconscious, and things that are hidden or buried. Pluto's influence can bring about deep internal changes and a heightened awareness of the unseen forces at play in your life. It encourages you to delve into the depths of your psyche and confront the shadow aspects of yourself.
This can be a challenging process, but ultimately it leads to profound personal growth and evolution. Pluto also rules over power dynamics, control, and the use of power for both positive and negative purposes.

Cayce's birth chart shows Pluto in Taurus conjunct Midheaven, and square Ascendant — that's a strong Plutonian presence energy. Edgar Cayce's Pluto ruler, Venus, is in Pisces in the 8th house. And he had Pluto conjunct Moon in Taurus.
This man's gifts were profound from faith healing to numerous psychic experiences and the ability to dig deep for truths.

7. Aspect Patterns Involving Intuitive Planets
Certain aspect patterns, especially those involving the Moon, Neptune, and Pluto, can highlight psychic tendencies.
- How to Identify in Your Chart: Look for grand trines, T-squares, or Yods involving these planets. Hello grand water trine! Or look for aspects such as Moon trine Neptune, Moon conjunct Uranus, Sun trine Neptune, Rising water signs like a 1st House in Pisces for example, and others.
- Manifestation of Psychic Abilities: A unique configuration of psychic talents, possibly blending strong intuition, emotional depth, and transformative insights.
Now we've come to the last indicator for psychic abilities in astrology chart readings. Aspects are a core component of birth charts. It tells you about the relationship between points, planets, and other planetary bodies. Here's where things can be fun to rabbit hole, Cayce has Moon conjunct Neptune and Pluto. 🙀🙀😍
